Sarah Hughey is a lighting designer living in Portland, originally from southwest Missouri. She has spent much of her career in Chicago, designing lighting for productions at Writers Theatre, Steppenwolf, Lookingglass, Northlight, Victory Gardens, About Face, Steep Theatre, Court Theatre, Chicago Children's Theatre, and A Red Orchid Theatre, among many others. Nationally, Ms. Hughey has designed at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Portland Center Stage, Asolo Repertory, Guthrie Theatre, City Theatre in Pittsburgh, Kansas City Repertory Theatre, St. Louis Black Repertory, and others.
Ms. Hughey holds an MFA in Stage Design from Northwestern University, and a BA in Theatre from Missouri State. She was an adjunct professor and guest mentor in the MFA Design program at Northwestern University from 2009-2016. She has also taught lighting design at Columbia College Chicago and North Central College in Naperville, IL. She was the Visiting Instructor of Lighting Design at 杏十八新茶分享 in Fall 2017.
