SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) is used to connect the file storage spaces of two computer systems over a network or the Internet using secure encryption. SFTP client applications provide graphical user interfaces that allow the user to download or upload files, as well as to perform file management tasks such as deleting or renaming files and folders.
