New partnership creates direct admissions pathway for College of Idaho students

by Jennifer Johnson,

College of Idaho

All undergraduates are eligible for a $20,000 scholarship if they are admitted into Willamette’s Early Career MBA program.

Students at the Caldwell-based campus who receive the generous Coyote to Bearcats Scholarship can use it toward the 2023 fall semester if they apply now. Qualified students will be guaranteed a scholarship. Additional scholarships may also be available once students are admitted to the MBA.

Willamette’s MBA is the top-ranked program of its kind in Oregon and No. 2 within the Pacific Northwest.

The program adds depth to any major and allows students to build on their existing business degree. Distinguished by its emphasis on hands-on courses, the MBA has students consult real clients their first year, manage organizations during elective courses and grow a strong network of contacts that benefit students far beyond graduation.

“This is a great opportunity for students who want to stay on the West Coast,” said Tony Cassinerio, assistant director of recruitment for Willamette MBA. “It opens up more doors for them throughout the region, allows them to build their own brand and become better acquainted with companies if they want to stay out here.”

Willamette’s similarities with the College of Idaho make the MBA a natural next step. Each institution’s strong academic programs, proximity to each other within the region and liberal arts offerings create even more opportunities for students to maximize their education.

“We're very excited about this new relationship and look forward to working with COI's administration and faculty, and welcome future COI students to the Bearcat family,” said Cassinerio.

The two institutions share a personal connection that led to the creation of the scholarship. College of Idaho Provost David Douglass used to work at Willamette from 1997 to 2017. He was a professor in the department of Civic Communications and Media Studies, an interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and the university’s dean of campus life.

For students who want to make sure Willamette MBA is the right fit, the program is offering free travel vouchers for a personalized visit to campus. Airfare, travel expenses and hotel stays will be covered by the program.
