Assistant Professor Rohan Grey was named a visiting professor at the University of Manchester, where he will spend the month of December 2021. Grey is in his second year of teaching contracts, business organizations and securities regulation at Willamette Law.
He is a prominent voice in global financial news and focuses his research on the legal design and regulation of money and finance, as well as broader issues of law and political economy. This is his fourth invitation to the school in the United Kingdom.
While there, Grey will collaborate with Professor John Haskell, co-director of the Law & Technology Initiative and the Manchester International Law Center. Grey met Haskell through his work with the Association for Promotion of Political Economy and Law. Haskell has been his mentor and colleague for many years and is building a law and money technology program at the University of Manchester.
In addition to presenting a few talks and workshops, Grey plans to work with Haskell to produce a few short policy notes, a podcast and a longer article on teaching about money and technology in the law school context, in addition to assisting in the development of partnerships with leading law firms in the area.
“It’s a privilege to return to Manchester to collaborate with a leading UK scholar on issues about the future of money and finance,” Grey says, “and to consider how to better integrate technology into legal education and the legal profession.”
Willamette Law Dean Brian Gallini praised Grey’s work and says he is thrilled to have him share his knowledge with an international audience.
“Professor Grey is an excellent instructor who is passionate about the areas of monetary research and the law of money,” Gallini says. “It’s important for our professors to continue their scholarship and professional development by participating in visiting and research opportunities.
