ÐÓÊ®°Ëвè·ÖÏí College of Law is pleased to welcome Sheryl Buske, assistant professor of Legal Research and Writing, to Salem this fall.
Buske has more than two decades of teaching experience in Legal Writing and Child Law. She has also served as the director and assistant director of Legal Writing for multiple schools. Before joining Willamette, she had been the director of the Legal Writing program for Washington and Lee University School of Law, located in Virginia, since 2018.
“I believe strongly that skill development should be the core of legal education,” Buske says, “and I’m delighted to be joining a faculty that values experiential learning.”
Dean Brian Gallini was thrilled to add Buske to the faculty.
“Professor Buske is joining a talented faculty that shares her deep commitment to skill-based learning,” Gallini says. “Adding her to our deep bench of talented classroom teachers will further prepare our students for their legal studies and beyond.”
Buske has a passion for international legal education, having lived and taught in Ireland, Tanzania, South Africa, Cambodia and other countries. She was a Fulbright Scholar to Ghana in 2011-12.
Buske’s favorite thing about teaching is building relationships with students and cheering them on as they find the area of law they love and grow into successful lawyers. She says the greatest compliment is continuing relationships with former students after they graduate.
Prior to becoming a professor, Buske practiced Child Welfare Law in Chicago for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. She is new to Oregon and is looking forward to exploring the Pacific Northwest.
